The event was a success and I did manage later on - to play a few videos from VDJ.

So I had to revert back to Megaseg and Torq. And When I navigated my iTunes library, MANY songs were not there and MANY songs had a NULL value for Artist and Title fields.

I didn't know how to use the automix feature very well - how to segue to next track.

(I knew I wasn't ready and I had my backup software ready) But I tried to use VDJ but wasn't very successful - Not being familiar with the features and controls. Obviously the third option is probably best if you want to get creativeĪfter cramming to rebuild my HD (I had to restore the OS from a backup), I was pressed for time and didn't have much time to read the user manual. Buy some kind of mixer/midi controller with a crossfader. (I haven't had much sucess with this, but it's an option.) - Use some keyboard (or midi controller) shortcuts. To do that you can either: - Just click on the little "video preview" window in virtual dj, that will make the video crossfader move to that deck - Click on the box that lets you select the video transition, it will become highlighted and automatically move the video crossfader when you start to play the next video and then move completely when you stop playing the other track. This means that you can't fade from one video to the next with your mixer. It will work fine just like in torq, but the mixer controls aren't connected to the software, so the on-screen cross-fader won't move when you move it on your mixer. BTW the only problem you might get is to do with the mixer. Oh yeh, if you're using an external mixer, don't forget to disable virtualdj's internal crossfader by going to "settings"-"options" and click the box next to the word "crossfader" until it says "disabled". If you get stuck, just come back and ask a few questions. The demo of virtualdj is fully functional, but only lasts for 20 days i think. burn 2 copies of the cd, put them in and see what happens. And the setup should be fairly simiilar (all cables will go in the same places) Why not just go to the "download" section of this website and download the "timecode cd" file and the virtual dj demo. Hi, your connectiv sound card should work fine with virtual dj. True? But if I can use my external CDJ hardware, I probably won't need an external controller.

Questions: 1) If I purchase Virtual DJ (for the PC - I hear it much more robust), can I use my existing CDJs for external control of audio AND video? 2) Does a sound or video card come with the software? (Torq came with a special USB sound card "Conectiv": 3) Any recommendations on a place to buy? I heard I should look for an external controller and it may have a coupon for a discount on the software.

But Torq does not handle video (.VOB files). I presently have M-Audio Torq and I use the CDJs for external control with Torq time code CDs.

I have a few questions, but here's the background on my gear: Hardware: Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Mac OS 10.5.6 Or I can run Microsoft XP (PC) (2) Pioneer CDJ1000's (1) DJM-909 Mixer (1) Trigger Finger I want to be able to mix and scratch music videos using the CDJs to control the video on the hard drive. I saw another DJ using VDJ and I was amazed.
